I am extremely happy and thankful to have received two Liebster award nominations. I also want to apologize for posting this so late, as I was caught up with other priorities. This award is special for two reasons: (a) it’s an award for new budding bloggers, and (b) you win this as a result of nomination from your fellow bloggers, so it’s a token of appreciation from the blogging community.
I would like to thank Amora from Amora Adventures and Clare from Suitcases and Sandcastles for allowing me to be a part of this award. Both of them are passionate and inspiring travel bloggers and I highly recommend you check out their blogs as well.
Liebster Award Acceptance Rules:
- Thank your nominator.
- Share the award on your blog.
- Answer the 10 questions asked to you.
- Ask 10 questions to 10 new nominees.
- Notify them.
This blog post is all about answering Clare’s questions. Read the other one where I responded to Amora’s questions here
What do you most enjoy about blogging?
Of course, writing helps one to express their innermost thoughts in the best way possible. But, blogging helps me channel those thoughts and bring them to life with my travel pictures.
Where do you write most of your blog posts?
On the couch in my living room, usually middle of the night. Early AM hours always bring out the best of my creativity. 🙂
What’s your best piece of travel advice?
Just three words. Research, research and research! I can’t stress enough on this. Trying to just wing it and checking off things from the leaflet will leave you feeling tired and exhausted like a tourist. If you want to experience the real essence of the place, research on the internet, speak to locals and be open to try out things that you haven’t done before.
What’s your least favorite part of traveling?
Waiting for the train or the bus or the flight because I would rather spend that time exploring. And somehow, they are my least favorite places to people-watch, as everyone looks tired or anxious or excited.
How would you describe your packing style?
Light traveler? That’s definitely NOT me. I am usually the one with a checklist, with every detail jotted down right from when I am going to wear what, to medicines, umbrella and all sorts of knick-knacks that I might need. My logic is simple, while I am traveling, I don’t want to waste precious time scouting for something that I might need.
What do you always take with you?
I always always carry a beautiful silk pashmina scarf that was gifted by one of my best friends. I love to carry it on flights as it keeps my warm enough, when it gets too cold.
PS: Other essentials and my photography gear goes with me on all my travels, but I thought that would be too obvious to say for a travel blogger.
Name three of your favourite books.
Amish Tripathi – The Shiva Triology
Dan Brown – Angels and Demons
Khaled Hossieni – A Thousand Splendid Suns (Loooooove this, makes me cry)
Beach shack, five-star luxury hotel or gypsy caravan, what’s the best place you’ve ever stayed in?
Actually, none of the above. My all time favorites and a very important way by which my travels are now more enriched are the homestays and B&Bs that we stay in. They are such a great way to experience and learn little things from the locals themselves. Our chats with the hosts at the breakfast table have always helped us gain little local secrets. Plus, I think they are a great way to find comfort and cleanliness on a budget, without making a hole in your pocket.
What’s the worst place you’ve ever stayed in?
Being the extra cautious traveler that I am, I have never encountered that situation so far. I usually do thorough research on the place I am planning to stay in. I believe that it is important to have a nice cozy place to go back to after exploring and being exhausted the whole day. Touchwood, been lucky so far! 🙂
Which place would you most like to go back to?
LONDON, so much to see so much do, so many day trips , so much character. I am in love!
What’s your biggest travel regret?
I have the world to see, it’s too early to regret anything. I absolutely love traveling and that’s also when you will find me at my best behavior! (meaning non-fussy, which I am not otherwise) 😀
Here are my nominations for Liebster Awards (most of them are travel blogs):
